Lapband 2

smoothly???
Just home from fill. Now you all know with me if something is going to go wrong it will haha.

Had appointment for 1.30 to have the fill done by x-ray. Go in and the Dr was held up coming from Gatton so was going to be 40 mins late. No big deal.

Anyway time comes and in I go. They put this metal disc on my stomach to get it over the center of the port. They couldn’t find their normal marker so just used a whiteboard one. She then gives a local to the area to numb it. See all is good so far.

She then puts the needle in and using x-ray make sure it is center of port, no worries. Then presses to put needle in. Stubborn thing didn’t want to go in and was bending over the port. After trying a few different things they finally get it in and insert the 5ml that the specialist wanted in. So far, so good.

They then stand me up with the machine and get me to take a mouthful of water, then another. Well it decided it wasn’t going anywhere. They then thought to give me some aniseed stuff to drink that would show up on the x-ray to see if it was going thru.

So here I am, standing on this tiny platform that when the table is flat makes up the bed end, with a cup of gunk in one hand and a sick bag that folds out in the other because that water couldn’t decide if it was going up or down.

I had a mouthful of the gunk and everyone (there was 3 in the room apart from me) stood watching it going up and down my esophagus. All were quite amazed, well that was all except for me who was standing there wanting to just let it all come up and over them. Every 30 seconds or so on the screen you would see this little squirt go thru the band. Looked a bit like an octopus expelling its ink.

After consultation between them all, they thought they would ring the specialist and see what he wanted to do. Well stupid man hadn’t written the instructions or explained things to me very well. Apparently from the operation there was 2ml in the band and he wanted it made up to 5ml.

He gave them 2 options, taking it out and starting again, or inserting the needle back in, while it was in stand me up to have a drink and withdraw fluid until whatever I was drinking was going thru properly. No one was comfortable with number 2 option so it was number 1. Only problem was the white board marker had rubbed off so having to start from scratch and while they withdrew all the fluid in the band it has all turned out a bit weird. They took all the fluid out and you would expect there to be 7 mls – the original 2 and the 5 today, but nooooooooo there was 9mls. So 5mls went back in and now I will just have to wait and see how I go. Lol.

Oh and because of standing up after the first go, the port moved to a different area so have 2 holes and Band-Aids on me haha.
Getting Nervous
Tomorrow at 1.30 I get my band tightened. Am getting very nervous about it. It will be the start of another new journey of discovery.

I have to go on a couple of days of liquid food, so back to optifast. Then it will be trial and error as to what foods I can eat. I can tell you that I will be very careful about what goes in my mouth as I hate throwing up.... yeah I know, too much info.

So stay turned to how I go when I finally have some fill in this band. lol.
Stable
Well I was warned this would happen just before getting the band tightened and being able to eat more.... I have stayed the same.
Can't wait until Monday and getting the band tightened.

Now Peter went deep sea fishing yesterday and I have heaps of fish in the freezer now. I worked out one of the fish cooked up would do me for a whole week of meals twice a day haha.

Have I told you about wind before? Just can't remember. When you have the band you get more wind. You also get lots of intesional noises because your not eating as much, but the wind is the main thing. Now I am not talking about little sneaky farts or burps. NOOOOOOOOOO everyone within a 10 mile radius knows when you have expelled wind. I am sure I have seen the roof lift off the house at times lol.

Ok too much info, but this is my life haha.
wow a whole cup now!!
I had the dietician this morning. Now that my band has had time to cement itself in place I can change my eating habits.

I now don’t have to just have ½ cup of food. I can have around a cup. I am to have the following: -

4 serves bread/cereals
1 serve starchy veggies (2 cups others)
3 fruit serves
1 ½ dairy
1 protein
1 other.

The other is things like butter, margarine, 3 hot chips, 3 squares chocolate, etc a day. Or I can have it as 7 serves on 1 day a week.

He is happy with my weight loss. I have been a bit ho hum about it the last few days, as its stopped atm and I just want it moving down lol.

He has given me a list of problem food: - fresh bread, skin on fruit, carrots and corn, steak, el dente pasta etc that I might not be able to tolerate. Its all trial and error as to what goes down and what doesn’t.

After my fill he said the hole the food goes thru is around 5mm so that is how fine food must be chewed.
Tai Chi
This year I did a course in mindfulness. One part of that was doing Shibashi, which I really enjoyed. I haven’t been able to get a DVD of it at the moment so got a Tai Chi one instead.

Now anyone that tells you this is a gentle, easy exercise is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO wrong. Haha. 18 minutes of it (that’s how long the exercises on it goes for) is much more physically demanding that 30 or 40 minutes on the treadmill.

To be honest, they aren’t hard to do and are gentle on your body since there are no jumping or fast movements. But doing things slow and controlled is a lot harder. I do enjoy it though but have to remember with both it and the treadmill to warm up properly. My back is giving me grief of a morning now.

On the food side, I can say I think the swelling on my band has gone down as when I have my ½ cup of food for a meal I am hungry again not long after. Have the dietician on Tuesday and only a week tomorrow until my fill. Woohooo.

I am also thinking of changing surgeons for the fills. With mine I just haven’t been happy with him since the op. He told me he would ring Peter to let him know how the op went and didn’t, he was suppose to come and see me the day after the op in hospital for discharge and didn’t, just rang and said to them to send me home. When I had my post op appointment he was 2 ½ hours late – I don’t have a problem with that – but everyone was then just given around 5 minutes to see him. It was rush in, felt my stomach, didn’t even look at my scars until I said could he look at one that I was concerned about. Weighed me and gave me the form to go to the x-ray place to get my fill in 3 weeks and come back in 3 months. We had no chance to really ask any questions and in fact were asking some as we were being escorted to the door. I think I will give him one more chance and if I am not happy with it change. Others that I know that have been to him haven’t had this problem.
What not to eat
Well finding out what things just don't seem to agree and plonk themselves in my stomach.

Store bought lasagne. Not enough meat sauce and it just sat like a lead balloon.
Chicken skin. One way to make sure you take the skin off haha.

Otherwise things aren't going too bad. Struggling with doing the exercise. Think I need an exercise buddy or buddies to do it with me so I have to do it. Am going to do some tai chi today though. I really enjoy it.

Oh and looky ^^^^ 17 kgs since May 1st, not too shabby hey. :)
Guilt
Guilt is a very powerful emotion.

For years I have had guilt over Ryan having DMD. The mother passes it on and even though I never knew I was a carrier, it doesn’t stop the guilt.

So you end up punishing yourself in a way that others would find hard to understand. No one wants to bury his or her child, so you almost sabotage your own life so that you go first.

I did this in so many ways – not looking after my health, which in turn kept me on steroids for 20 years, which didn’t help weight issues and of course emotional eating.

To start this journey I had to forgive myself, as much as I could. I had to accept that, no it wasn’t my fault but a cruel twist of nature that gave us this life. I had to acknowledge that I wanted to be here for my other 2 children to see them grow, get married and have children – if that is where their life takes them.

And while doing all that, I then have to try and learn to be selfish.

Our van broke yet again this week. It is an ex taxi and we have had it for 10 years, so its done over a million kms. We have always been able to coax it back to working again. Buying a new van isn’t an option with hubby only working casually due to needing to help with Ryan. We would never be able to get a loan.

Well yesterday, again saw me in tears. Guilt that we had spent this money on me to have this surgery, when we so desperately need a new van and the money could of gone towards that. I know that no one else would ever say they blame me for that, but its how I feel.

Luckily enough an auto electrician friend was able to find the problem and get it going, but with the news that all the wiring has had it and needs replacing. Thank God he found it and was able to get it going.

So this is something else for me to work through. I feel like I am on an emotional roller coaster at the moment. Its not just different eating habits you have to deal with, it’s all this other crap as well.

Anyone that tells you that this is an easy way out is lying. You eat 1-½ cups of food a day. So you try and make them as interesting as you can with so little, all the while trying to get all the nutrients your body needs. Well really its only a cup a day you try to make interesting, the other ½ cup is porridge which is never interesting haha. Throw on some emotional issues and wow, what a journey!!
Scales must of been on strike
I think the scales were trying to trick me the other day. I weighed myself yesterday and today and I am at 148.3kg so have lost a lot more than it was trying to have me think lol. Maybe it was to get me on the treadmill more lol.

Speaking of the treadmill, I had thought in the year that I have had it that grade 4 was the steepest hill it went up. Noooooooooo it goes up to grade 12 hill. OMG talk about burning legs and heart rate going up haha. In 2 mins at it going 2kms an hour - yep I only have short legs - I went from 124 to 148 pulse rate. Then 1 mins rest and then 2 mins at 3 kms an hour - nearly a jog for me haha. Kept that up for half an hour alternating.

Still have a couple of stitches still to go. Annoying things as they keep catching on my bra. But the good thing is that I have to keep pulling up the pants I have on atm. Bad thing is that about Feb/March I had decided not to keep any clothes I didn't fit in as it was a waste of space in the cupboard and threw them all out. I now have no warm clothes and refuse to go and buy any.

Food wise I am having a bit more chunks in it. It just takes ages to eat the 1/2 cup. Fish or chicken and veggies have me taking about 45 mins to an hour with all the chewing I have to do.

But its all worthwhile in the long run. :)
weight update
Well weight loss has slowed but then thats to be expected. In 5 days I have lost .8 kg. Its still heading south so thats good.

My date for my first fill has changed to 29th June so 2 weeks Monday.

I had cruskits yesterday and they were yum, with some tuna tempters and riccotta cheese.

I have updated photos to a new page. Please click on the link above to view them and Please rate my site as well.

Thanks :)
exercise
Been really good doing the exercise. Have only missed one day since last Saturday. Am mixing it up a bit on the treadmill e.g. doing 2 mins at grade 4 hill, 1 min at just walk, 2 mins at fast walk, 1 min at slow walk. It makes the time go a lot quicker. Not starting on my hand weights and stretchy band yet.

Have 2 dissolvable stitches still in. Wish they would bloody go as they are in bad spots and really annoying since they sort of catch on clothing.

Had a small piece of grilled fish for dinner tonight. Think I have to remember to have some sort of sauce with it. It was chew 32 times, then another 32 then some more. Took me an hour to eat it haha. Imagine being out with friends and taking that long lol.

Tomorrow I start on cruskits so slowly going to move towards more normal food.

Ops you have to hold on, as I am off to get a coffee.

Ahhhhh that’s better!!!

Don't know if I mentioned this before or not but when I eat I am to have a drink prior, then take 1/2 hr to eat then wait 1/2 hour before having a drink so as not to wash the food thru. Well taking so long to eat tonight I was hanging out for a drink.

Am on decaf at home atm but the other day while waiting for the dr I had a cappuccino. OMG to die for. So will now have to get in touch with people I have promised to meet up with for coffee haha.

And I really want to thank everyone for their support while I go thru this journey :)

Lapband 3

damn, damn, damn
Well I didn't get done today. Went into place, get changed on bed, they set everything up, scan and find port and then go to get the dr who has to do the proceedure. He informs them that he doesn't do lap bands. grrrrr.

The poor girl was so embarrassed and angry. She said that the drs can pick and choose what they do and don't do and they only have 1 who will do it. So now I have to go back on Friday.

Not happy Jan!!!
what is a fill
It suddenly occurred to me that some people don't know what a fill is, so I thought I better explain.

Ok from the above picutre you can see that the band is placed in such a way that I have a small stomach now. It gets full and tells my brain I am not hungry. Now the band gets tightened so that the stomach doesn't let as much food flow thru easily and it keeps telling the brain I am full. The looser the band the more food needed to say I am full.

Now to tighten the band you see the port in the pic? Well it is just under the skin and saline is injected into it and it "fills" the band. Its a bit like putting air into a balloon and blowing it up, except here they use liquid instead of air.

Its a bit of a guessing game getting it to the right point at the moment, but once it is then it will be longer inbetween fills. :)
tomorrow
Am having a fill tomorrow of 1.5ml so I should def notice the difference then. Lets hope it stays that way this time lol.
more fill
Just a quick update.

Am going to ring tomorrow about getting more fill. I am now eating normal size meals atm, which isn't suppose to happen. If I have  smaller meal I am feeling hungry a lot quicker.

Now just need someone to motivate me to exercise. I haven't done any lately.

But on the good side, I do have more energy and next time I have blood tests the vampire will be happy. My arms had gotten so that the crease had made it difficult to get blood taken, now its nice and smooth again in the creases. Its the little things that make the difference in noticing lol.

Thank you so much to all of those that give me words of encouragement. You are the ones that keep me going and make me feel proud of myself. So a big ((HUG)) to all of you from me.

:)
yeah yeah I know
Yep I know, you thought I had abandoned you all lol. But no I just got slack haha.

Ok last time you visited the blog I was going out for lunch for first time since fill. Had a lovely time at sizzlers. Was good that I didn't have dessert just salad and the side dish of prawns and a couple of chips, bad were that I drank while eating - big no no.

I am no longer 1/2-cup girl. Meals are getting bigger and to the point I am thinking I may need some more fill added. Am going to wait and see how it goes over the next couple of days and take it from there.

On other news I had my follow up consultation with the psychologist yesterday. I don't know if I told you that to get the lap band done you have to have a visit so they can say your sane and should get it done (well that’s my interpretation of it anyway lol ). The first person I saw I didn't really like. She spent most of the time asking me how I was going to cope with throwing up all the time. My reply was that I was going to do everything right so that didn't happen, but she just kept harping on it.

This time I saw the guy who owns the practice as I had said I didn't like the other one. Must say he was a lot better but one thing I have to laugh about is a questionnaire you fill out before first visit. It asks you stupid questions like would you rather be a builder or a gardner and ones like cat is to kitten as dog is to pony, calf, pup etc.

So I got the results of the test yesterday and it had me rotfl on the way home... well not literally otherwise I wouldn't have seen the road from the floor of the car, but you get the drift.

It showed I wasn't depressed - good news, must tell GP that anti depressants are working well. That I was anxious more than normal in one part but not in another. This he contributed to being anxious about the operation... you think!! Then it showed while I was comfortable in a group I preferred to be on my own. I explained well I knew this. We have carers and visitors every day of the week. I crave the days that Ryan and everyone is out and I am home alone. This puts me outside the "normal" range haha. Next he said that I was outside normal in that I preferred things to stay the same instead of change... hello I'm a Virgo!! And I told him this haha. The last one was that I am outside normal as I care more about others than myself.... hmmm well not many mothers give a crap about themselves over their family.

Oh and I almost forgot. He showed me I was in normal range for self-control. To this I replied, "yeah I knew that. I smoked for 32 years and gave up cold turkey".

So no more visits back to them now. Can't say that I will miss them hehe.
eating out
Well today will be the first time I will be eating out since having the band filled, so should be interesting.

I am still trying to get the amounts right and still getting bad wind under my left rib and shoulder tip pain if I have too much. Too much can sometimes just be another mouthful or like the other night, I had dinner and then hubby got me a cuppicinno about 45 mins later. Well it just went and burst me into a world of wind pain. So now I know. While having a normal tea or coffee is fine then, a full on milk drink is not lol.
OMG, OMG, OMG
I am under 60 BMI whooo hoooo. How exciting is that?? Well probably not for you lot but it is for me haha.

All is going fine. Exercise has fallen by the wayside this week. Somehow I have hurt my right foot and hip. In fact hurt it so much that heat packs and massage are doing nothing so going to pop some digestics. Considering how much I hate taking tablets, it gives you an idea of how sore it is.

Am thinking last night when I had fish and veggies for dinner that I swallowed a bone. I thought I had checked  throughly but felt it as I swallowed and now think its stuck in my throat but nothing is moving it. Or it could be I am just thinking its stuck and imagining something in my throat. haha. Needless to say if I still feel it tomorrow I will head off to the drs to get it checked.
call me 1/2 cup girl
You can call me 1/2 cup girl, cause thats all I seem to be able to eat at a time before feeling stuffed. This was yesterdays food that I wrote in my diary.
¼ cup porridge
1 large banana
4 cruskits with tuna, ricotta cheese and tomato
5 strawberries
½ cup pasta with bolognaise sauce
yoghurt

Today isn't looking much better haha.

Now you might think that all things about loosing weight are good things. Well yeah 99% of it is but that little 1% is there to keep you on your toes.

For example: You know when your loosing as your breath has the green fumes of toxic odour coming from it haha. This is your body's way of saying "bad stuff inside leaving" lol.

Another part of that 1% is............ saggy skin. Not all of it bounces back into that taut position it was born in. Many have to eventually have plastic surgery to correct it.

So me being me started fantasicing this morning over what I would get done. Now just imagine that pulled back, stunned expression that people get when having a face lift, then I thought I could ask for Demi Moore's body - wonder what it would look like or 2 feet high legs haha, Speaking of legs, maybe Julia Roberts - again imagine them 2 feet long. Oh what a beauty I will be!!!

Maybe that 1% isn't so bad after all hahahaha.

eating
I finally got to have some food last night. Decided on something gentle so some mashed sweet potato and fish from Peter's catch last week. Had under a cup of food and think I over did it as I got pain under my left rib.

This morning I made my 1/2 cup of porridge and could only get through half of it, as by then I was totally stuffed.

Now God knows how I am suppose to eat what I have been told to by the dietician, because there is no way I am going to be able to.

4 bread serves
1 starchy vegetable/pasta/rice
2 to 3 cups of vegetables
3 fruit serves
1 1/2 dairy serves
1 protein serve.
1 other serve - this is things like butter, oil, avocado, icecream, sugar, 1 slice garlic bread, wine etc.

Maybe I will just have to make sure I get a bit of each and see what happens.

I have also decided to wait before weighing myself and get a surprise (hopefully a good one haha)

I am also cutting down on coffee. A few months ago I changed to decaf coffee. The only problem is that then I drink more than my usual 1 cup a day of it. I have discovered that even too much decaf will cause heart burn type symptoms. So am cutting back again and having tea instead.

.
blowing
Hmmm that gunk they give you to see on xrays just doesn't like me. The toilet has been my best friend lately.

Monday night I was laying in bed wondering if I wanted to throw up or just poop more haha. Horrible feeling that it was. Yesterday had my fluids but not an over amount. A couple of optifast and some soup. Today I have woken feeling a lot better.

Funny story. Last night daughter was having a "I just feel like crying and my mummy to hug me" moment. While I was she could hear all the sounds coming from my insides and decided it sounded like I was ready to explode haha.

With eating less your intestines and bowel have less in them and make lots of weird noises. Laying in bed last night they were having a conversation in there. I was thinking to describe it, its a bit like air in your hot water pipes and it hammers. But then I thought when it blows its more like one of those steam whistles that you see in old movies to stop work, or a whale with a blow hole going hahaha.

Maybe I should make a cd especially of the burps which come from so low down I could be a tenor haha.

lapband 4

Been slack
Yep I know I have been slack updating you all. In all honesty not much to report. Eating is going fine, exercise is still not going fine lol. Clothes are getting looser. I have more energy,

The only real difference is that my skin is getting really really itchy. Don't know if its from this or something else.

I also have to ask some other banders what it feels like when they get a blockage. For me, what it seems to feel like is having a stuck burp. You know that feeling of a big bubble in your chest that doesn't seem to move and you get extra gastic juices that taste bloody revolting.

It doesn't happen often but just once in a blue moon.

Well thats about it lol.
Saved
Wooohoooo. Congrats to hubby for not listening to me. Some of the clothes that were too small, that he was suppose to give to lifeline he didn't. So now I have some more clothes lol.

Weight is still heading south...woohoooo. Meals are still small.... woohooooo. I have a lot more energy ..... woohoooo

Lots of woohoooo's today.
skin
Yesterday spent the day being queasy. I think it was from the potato skina and also the grapes I had and the skin on them. Oh well I guess this is a live and learn situtation. I just know I will be more careful from now on.

When losing weight, one way to get rid of the fat is to breath it out so then you get halitosis. Now this isn't a good thing when talking to people so chewing gum can help. But at night when you have a cpap mask on and you get it, its not good lol. I had it so bad last night it woke me up. phewwweeee. Thank god I was the only one that could smell it haha
food
Saw dr yesterday and nope there is no alternative for my tablets but to crush them and bear it..yuk!! But on a good note, I might be able to come off of one of them... woohooo!!

With the dietican it was a good apt. He gave me some suggestions for meals. Basicly I would say have for breakfast - cereal, toast and fruit. Now of course I can't eat all that. So whatever I don't have I hold over to morning tea. Same with lunch and dinner. Hence eating 6 times a day and getting in everything I am suppose to.

Last night for dinner was ham steak cooked in a little pineapple juice from can topped with a ring of pineapple and served with jacket potato, wedge of pumpkin and cauliflower. I couldn't eat it all and didn't feel like having it for supper. But one Brekky suggestion it was useful for, so had it this morning. Left over veggies with a bit of parmesean cheese on toast. Have to say it was yummy and also a good way to get in veggies for the day. :)

Tops are starting to become very baggy....woohooo. Am focusing on getting to the 130's. Only about 4.6 kgs haha.

Can you imagine going from high 160's in Feb to 150's to 140's in such a short time and now nearly at 130's!!! Isn't life grand :)
smashed it
Did you see??? 20.4kgs finally!!!!

Things are going well atm. Have dietician today, so that will be interesting.

Everything is lose, which is great.

Going to see dr today about seeing if my medication comes in liquid form. It taste revolting ground up and I put off having it because of that.

Will let you know how it goes.

Have a good day, because I am!! :)
ssshhhhhhhhh
Waiting for confirmation again tomorrow, but guess what?????

20.2kgs lost..........wooooohooooooo!!!!!
glug
So far so good with fill. Still on liquids but looking forward to seeing how food goes later today.

Isn't it funny how the mind works. You might go half the day without eating anything and it doesn't worry you, BUT be told you can't eat and suddenly you want food. haha. Guess that is the power of free will to decide on things hey.

As I have said before, its the little things that I notice. Like when someone says "wow look at the difference" I tend to think that maybe they are just saying that to make me feel good, rather than 'yes there is a big difference'. That probably doesn't make sense but it does to me. haha.

Anyway back to the little things. I mentioned the other day about my arms and the inside of the elbow. Well today its getting into a bra I haven't worn for well over 12 months. Yippeee!! I knew paying keeping the bras would pay off. Even if I have no other clothes to wear, I will have bras ... lol. Oh and jewellery. My rings are getting lose but thats ok because many years ago we had bought a new wedding band for me as my old one was too small. Now when I get back into that old one I will def know that I have lost a lot. You see its a size K. For those that don't know much about rings its about 49mm in round.

Now if you see me on here this week, you are to nag about exercise. lol.
photos
Today you are all priviledged. I am posting todays photos haha

from this

From that..... to this.....

fill is done
Look at this. Miss a few days writting and suddenly heaps to do haha.

I had the fill this morning, so hopefully things will get back on track.

You know me, things never seem to go smoothly.

Do you ever have one of those days where you are just emotional? Have you noticed that they seem to pop up at the  worst times? Yep you have? Well that was me today.

I go in today to have fill. All is good. Go into scan room and they get me to sit on a chair and wait and wait. Then chinese radiographer tells me to get changed. I said ok but will I just take off my bra, thats what I had to do last fill and the other day. He looks in a book he has and said yep thats fine.

Him and scottish nurse get me organized on the table and get in dr to do proceedure. Well talk about attitude!! He went off at them because they were waiting for him to come and tell them what he wanted done. He said "My job is just to do the injection, yours is to have her ready. Get her changed she isn't sterile". I then had to get off the table, and get changed. The gown they gave me which was opened at the front, covered absolutely nothing.

At this point I just started crying. I don't know why. I have had so many operations and proceedures that it shouldn't of bothered me.  I go in and back on table, everything hanging out. Poor chinese guy was "Lady why you cry. It won't hurt". The practice manager came in saw I was upset and got blankets to cover me up. Told them that I wasn't surpose to get changed, just take off bra and he shouldn't of said otherwise. That my clothes would be just as sterile as the gowns they use. She found the port, marked it and told the other two that yes the dr was suppose to do all this but was just being a princess.

He came back, made me sign a form to say I wouldn't hold him responsible for anything going wrong - I mean wtf. He did the injection of fluid and took off. Not even waiting until I had a drink to make sure it wasn't clogged.

I had to walk out to the front desk to sign a form, and then out past everyone in the waiting room with these red eyes, and still crying.

Do you think maybe next time it will go without a hitch haha.
clothes
Well lets hope today goes smoothly with getting the fill. I am so over ready for this!!

Now for anyone out there trying to lose weight I have the perfect solution. You know how we all have those clothes in our cupboards that you think - one day I will get back into that. Well throw them out!! Yep you heard me, throw them out. You see back in January or February I culled everything in my cupboard. If it didn't fit it went... well all of it did except bras. Do you know how expensive those damn things are???

So anyway I got rid of it all. As soon as I did I decided to have the lap band surgery. Lost the 5 kgs prior to seeing specialist, have since lost nearly another 20kgs and guess what??? I have no bloody winter clothes to wear lol. I threw them all out!!

I hear you say "well go and buy some more". My answer to that is "no, they won't fit me next year and I don't want to waste money" haha.

Around the house isn't too bad, daggy clothes are fine. Going out I have one stripped long sleeve rugby knit shirt. So if you see me out and about, yes I will always have the same clothes on but be assured, they are clean. lol.

Lapband - 5

Well New Year has hit us once again. The older you get the quicker it goes lol
Well New Year has hit us once again. The older you get the faster it goes.

Last time I wrote was before xmas. Now I love Xmas and everything it stands for. One thing I don't like about it is the food. lol. I didn't behave and had some choc coated almonds and other things I shouldn't of and hence put on a couple of kilos.

Also had a couple of blockages which had me rushing to the toilet to throw up... I know too much info but its part of this journey.

Last couple of days I put myself back on liquids to help get give my stomach a rest. You need to do this if you get anything stuck. Well your suppose to for 24 but I did 48 hours instead. The good thing is that my weight has now started to head back in the right direction.

For Xmas daughter got ishape for the wii. Have to say it is really good. Its the one with the camera that scans your body when your exercising and tells you to keep moving your legs/arms or to watch the tutorial on how to do it properly. It also works out a programme for you to follow. Daughter thought this was unfair as hers is 45 mins 3 times a week and mine is only 15mins 5 days a week haha.

Speaking of body mine is changing. Hubby says some more shape is coming back into it. Daughter says my bum is going and Ryan's contribution..... your boobs still hang to your ankles haha.

I am not making resolutions this year. Just trying to make things a bit different. Keeping up with the diet, exercising and get back into my writting. At the moment I am doing Troy's scrapbook for his 18th. I did one each for the other 2. Only thing is that I only started this week and need it finished for his birthday on Feb 14th haha. Nothing like a tight deadline.

One of the other things I am planning this year is a road trip by myself. I am going to NSW to visit some friends and maybe meet up with some that I haven't met yet but have wanted to.

I hope you all have a fantastic, happy and healthy 2010!!!
end of world.
Well what a week.Where previously I thought I had restriction I never did.

I have to tell you that I thought my world had come to an end the other day. I was nearly in tears, the pain was incredible. I had a prawn get stuck!! OMG I thought, I won't be able to have these again. But I found that if I spend about half an hour chewing one, so that all flavour is gone and its just some stringy type of mess, than yes I can still have them.

Been getting a lot of things getting stuck, toast is another big one. I eat sometimes even after waiting the half hour to have a drink, I can feel it sitting on top of the food waiting its turn to go through.

Pain under my left ribs is incredible sometimes. Spoke to gp about that yesterday and its wind from swollowing air when I am eating. I think I might have to learn how not to breath to stop that haha.

Oh well till next time.
celebration time, come on
Now as you know when I started my weight loss journey I was 167kg. Then I went to the 150's, then the 140's where I seemed to get stuck. Well now......wait for it............... I am............in ................ the 130's woooooooohoooooooooooooooooo

This time the tightening is really working. Where I thought it was before is nothing compared to this. I have to be careful of what I eat, as I have had a couple of blockages. But finally, am on the move again!!!!
okay I am back
I know its been a while and I am slack.

While I haven't put on any weight I haven't lost any. Its very disheartening. The doctor said today he thinks it because I am not having food that is not totally solid eg yoghurt for breakfast, which he says has 70% sugar and its just going thru and not filling.

I am finding that I have a fill, like I did today and then in a couple of weeks, its like there is no restriction. He said that is normal but I am not too sure on that and if it happens again this time I will be wanting it looked at better.

On the exercise side of things, I am walking nearly every day and actually enjoying it.

I have also had to have my blood pressure medication cut in half.... woohooo.

And I have a lot more energy..... again woohoo.

I am not sleeping much though. I think too much running thru my head.

Ok I know this was short but I promise to keep it up to date from now on :)
Yep I am slack
Not much has changed. Weight has stayed the same I am sorry to say. I am starting to wonder if maybe the band isn't in the right place or leaking. It seems to last for a week after a fill then not tight again. I will give it another week or so then go back to specialist to see what he says. I am hoping that it isn't either of them as there is no way we can afford to get it fixed.

Will keep you updated.
Still here
Well I am still plodding along. Weight has stayed the same, much to my disappointment. But then I suppose its better than putting on.  Should say though that my clothes are getting looser, so maybe my body shape is changing. My shirts are beginning to look like dresses. haha

Exercise is picking up. For my birthday Ryan gave me Wii Resort. I am having heaps of fun playing it.

I have to tell you a funny story about it though.

Now I am someone who can visualize very, very easily. Doing meditations you only have to describe a place and I am there. I just didn't realize how in the moment I get until yesterday.

One of the games is basketball. Resort has motion controls that come with it to play. Anyway I am playing basketball and didn't realize that instead of just bringing my arm up to shoot, I was also half jumping haha. I thought to myself afterwards while puffing and panting and trying to get my breathe back... what an idiot!! haha.

Later on I was doing cycling. I had done a couple of races and then went to a new course. Part of this course was riding on the beach. From all the bikes in the race and the breeze there was sand flying around on the screen. Here am I, putting my head down and to the side so that the sand didn't get into my eyes. Yeah yeah go on laugh. When I realized what I was doing, I was so embarressed and glad no one but the dog was there to witness it haha.

Okay back to lapband. Being my birthday this week I did do a few things I shouldn't of. I drank while eating and over ate as well.

Some things that I have learnt thru this and that may help others that aren't getting lapband are....

1. Drink 10mins max prior to a meal. Don't drink for 30 mins after eating so your not washing your food thru your stomach and getting hungry sooner.

2. Take at least 20 to 30 mins to eat what you have for a meal. Thats how long it will take your body to tell your brain your full and stop you from overeating.

3. Drink plenty of water during the day.

4. When you feel hungry, stop and think is it your stomach telling you that you are or your head. Head hunger is because you smell something or see something and then think you are hungry.

I will add more as I think of them but these things alone will help.
oh the pain
Well one thing that is back is the wind pain under my left rib. OMG if I have a larger meal then the pain is rather intense.

Now you might be wondering what is a large meal. Well the 2 things that have set it off this week are - an omlette with onions and potato in it with a sausage and today was a hamburger. I have been drinking some soft drink to try and move the gas bubble.

On another note I had my diabetic clinic apt yesterday. All bloods were fine, blood pressure was 100 over 70 and the nurse just kept commenting about how healthy I was looking. So that gave me a boost and made me feel good.
new tight band
Well the band is tight. I have had a couple of tablets get stuck and a cup of coffee will fill me as it takes its time going thru.

I have lost what I put on so that is good.

I have also made up an exercise plan and expecting the whole family to do it lol. This will be one way to get me motivated.... well thats what I am hoping, I have only printed it out so far. Does that count as exercise???? hahaha.

I have a dinner to go to next week. Am trying to decide whether to buy a new top to wear or just wear one that is now a bit big. I hate shopping... yeah yeah I know unusual for a female... and I hate wasting money on clothes especially if I will not wear it for long. Decisions, decisions.

Anyway will update again in a few days. Have a ball everyone!!
I know I am slack
I know I haven't updated for a while.

I ended up  having another fill yesterday. So now I have 8 mls in the band. I was back to eating whatever and how much I wanted, which meant I put on nearly 1kg.

The doctor decided to try and do the ajustment himself instead of sending me off to xray. Luckily he was able to and got the port first go. Only thing was when he took the needle out, blood went everywhere lol. His hands were covered and he was grabbing paper towel to wipe it up and try and stop it. lol.

So now my clothes have blood and so does my bra. Think I will have to go naked next time..... yeah right haha.

So now back on 2 days of liquids.

Still struggling with exercise. So if anyone in the Ipswich area would like to give me an hour or so of your time when you can, to come and exercise with me, that would be great. I have a recumbert bike, treadmill, weights, bands, step and gym set. Also have a wii and tai chi and heart smart dvds.

Now to go and have my shake for brekky. Its shakes 3 times a day and I also have some pumpkin soup and drinking yoghurt. Bet your all jealous now aren't you hahaha.
moving
Well weight is still moving down, just at a slower pace now, which I am told is good. lol

One thing that I have had for the last couple of months is really itchy skin. I don't think its from the weather but will talk to dr about it next time I go.

This is all still hard and I don't think it will ever be easy. Its all still about making the right choices with the small amount you can eat. I went out with friends last week and ordered lunch time fish and veggies. Of course I couldn't finish it, but they were nice enough to put it in a takeaway container for me to have at home. I have found a lot of places don't have entrees that are suitable. All seem to be either oysters...yuk, the only seafood I don't eat, or bread products.

Maybe someone should come up with a lapband fast food place... they would make a fortune haha.
